You’re brilliant, all of you.

😘

Update - head honcho OT came last night.

It was much of a nothingness really.

He measured Iris, the stairs, saw how Iris can get on a chair…then said “so, stairlifts”

I said as politely as possible…

Four and a half years ago, your (now retired) colleague did all of these measurements; you have full architectural drawings, 3d scans, a survey and all proposals that led to the mess we’ve found ourselves in.

Your colleagues stated at the time, that to be fully independent, Iris needed a through floor lift, rather than the potentially risky stairlift.

Your colleagues agreed, 54 months ago that Iris needed more independent living space as she grew older.

You’ve measured our existing en-suite and declared that it is “too small” for a wet room.

Please see the notes from the initial report which also states that it is not big enough for a wheelchair user to access independently…

We could have sold up and moved house. But we were told we’d have support with an extension to allow for the recommendations your team made for Iris, within your tolerances (everything has to be done with an adult wheelchair user in mind).

How long, in theory are we looking at…

”that’s difficult to say”

Apparently, there is a case discussion regarding Iris and our property at the end of this month.

We still cannot go ahead with anything until we know what they’re actually going to do - it’s mental.

But, thank you one and all. You’re absolutely bloody fantastic.
