😮 How is that possible! 😂

A combination of being terminally skint, a degree of willpower I didn't know I possessed, and a fear of forgetting everything I know about bass playing when trying instruments out in front of other bassists.

Deeds not words are needed here. Don't sell the bass Andy. Let's behave like a community and help one of our own. I'm in. Here's to Iris

Yep, I'm in. Also, here's a quote so that the link can appear on Page 3.

@Clarky, top job organising the whip-round.  A very worthy cause indeed, and a big raspberry to whomever it was that pulled the plug on Iris's funding.  @AndyTravis, keep that bass and enjoy every note.

I’ve just sent chapter and verse to @Clarky - my head has well and truly fallen off.

I am humbled and so grateful.

The gear sale may have to continue as there’s a lot of work to do (detailed in my essay to Clarky) - basically to make the thing work in its entirety, we have to lose the family living room and move the kitchen…

Iris will get her statutory grant - not anything like enough to follow the original plans of her own space; we will make it work somehow.

We could do a massive remortgage, but in a world where our mortgage payments went up about 25% last year - we cannot financially do it. We cannot relocate as we rely heavily on our family network for her appointments and the other kids too.

They did say there was a relocation Grant available…then told us the rules changed…because we work. 😒

My original idea of winning the lottery hasn’t quite worked as I’d planned…

What I do know is this…you’re all absolutely feckin brilliant.

It's a shame @AndyTravis if you still have to sell gear, including the Ripper, to afford the significant house re-fitting work needed to help Iris. But ultimately a bass is wood and wire and your family's health comes first every time. Hopefully the generosity of the BC community makes a meaningful dent in your outlays to help your daughter. Very best wishes, Clarky

It’s certainly going to dent it - we’re lucky that 6 years ago we got the house at a decent price…but the area has had a massive upswing; in theory great for us- but also means if we stay within a few miles (iris’ (mainstream) school is fantastic for her and we cannot take her elsewhere as she’s settled and her SENDCo and TA know everything about her…we actually can’t afford to buy a bigger/better suited house.

In an ideal world - I’d get a bungalow…but they don’t seem to exist in our area with more than 2 bedrooms.

I’d love to buy a field and build…but we don’t have that kind of money…
