waynepunkdude
I'm not a huge expert but there is nothing that looks dodgy to me, the scratchplate definitely looks original. I sure there are many people who can give you better advice though.
Cat Burrito
It looks great BUT the seller sounds like he doesn't know his stuff. He is quick to provide a fair amount of detail on the leather strap without commenting on original pots and the usual things people highlight - he does mention the date on the neck but only after it was listed. I would be inclined to avoid if there are any doubts and buy from someone who gives more confidence. I have a 1990 bass that looks that cool & it didn't cost 1968 prices! If you want a 68 bass, this *could* be an expensive mistake - how long has he owned it? What's it's history? Is it all original? I think he's covered the strap well though! skankdelvar
Bridge and pick-up covers look a bit shiny (might have been removed and stored in the case for 40 years), as do the pot knobs, but could just be a well looked-after example. You'd have to go round and give it a prod to be absolutely sure...
wateroftyne
Looks spot-on to me. Check it out before you buy, as ever. It was a great era for Fender..
The Bass Doc
Looks spot-on to me.
Me two - so many pics but I'd like to have seen bridge and pickup detail. Worth a punt in my view.
chilisfan16
im not a spot on p-bassist, only played one once or twice, but the condition its in does make it seem pretty originaly tbh, and the looks seem similar to those i've seen already on ebay. chris_b
As I have one sitting right here to compare against, I think the neck, sunburst finish, serial number, scratch plate and machine heads look spot on for a 68. The ash trays on mine are perfect as they have lived in the sock drawer since day 1. I have brought lots of stuff from Ebay but my rule is to go and see it, then pick it up in person. rslaing
Strange bidding patterns? Price going up rapidly by £650 in a few minutes - 6 hours before end of auction? I've bought tons of stuff of ebay, but never seen a bidding pattern like this......... And it's getting silly. private listing - bidders' identities protected £2,050.00 31-May-09 10:48:00 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £2,000.00 31-May-09 14:05:06 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,900.00 31-May-09 14:04:31 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,800.00 31-May-09 14:04:01 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,700.00 31-May-09 14:03:38 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,600.00 31-May-09 14:03:22 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,500.00 31-May-09 13:38:58 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,315.01 29-May-09 23:06:17 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,315.00 31-May-09 07:58:07 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,275.00 27-May-09 23:32:04 BST private listing - bidders' identities protected £1,100.00 27-May-09 03:38:02 BST Starting Price £999.99 21-May-09 20:18:20 BST
