Eight
I've been doing a lot more transcriptions these days - trying to get my ear back in shape and also learn more about the use of bass in bands and genres I like. (Since I'm still a newb). Anyway, was doing Dark Wings today (Within Temptation) and I think I've been doing a good job. But I just casually glanced at an internet tab for the bassline and realised that where I'm playing the full arpeggios, the tab isn't. I'm pretty certain I'm right but would like someone else's opinion. Would you mind? In another thread, Faithless suggested that raising the pitch an octave can help the bass stand out. So that's what the second file is.
Thunderthumbs
Sounds like just root notes to me with something else playing the arpeggios over it.

lowdown
Eight, For a bit of fun.... Play the root notes tapped with left hand, and arps tapped with right hand. Do it in the privacy of your bedroom, then you can't be accused of noodling. Garry Edited June 4, 2009 by lowdown
Eight
That sounds pretty odd - but I'll give it a try. Cheers for the suggestion - I'm always up for a bass related laugh.
