Yorkshire Bottom End
Anyone tried both? I play mainly passive basses so I'm looking for a more 'active' sound for some tracks (esp slap) as well as a cracking but affordable DI pedal.
Killerfridge
The SBP-1 is one of my favourite preamps in it's simplicity. Boost only, turn up the bass and treble, start slapping
jimbobothy
... I'd get a SBP 2 preamp and a separate DI tbh. I have both a Radial Bassbone Tonebone V1 and a couple of the Sadowsky SBP 2 preamps (and a fair few DI's). The build quality of the SBP 2 is superb, I didn't rate the SBP 1 as much build quality wise tbh. Also means you can mix and match your DI's if you wanted to. The tone you can get on the Sadowsky is great and as said above very simple in it's operation.

I have (and until recently used for everything) a Tonebone OD (basically a Tonebone with a drive pedal attached). The EQ section is 'cut only', so there's no EQ boost at all. I'd say it probably isn't going to give you the 'active' tone it sounds like you're looking for.
