danbowskill Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Probably doubtful, but has anyone had any experience with this? https://www.zorgeffects.com/index.php/en/glorious-basstar-detail having separate drive for each of the 3 bands sound fab on paper... But all depends what the distortion flavours like? (YouTube can never give you the feel). Seems similar to the Ashdown triple shot but with more options (overall tone, level, clipping). Gas is getting to me Quote
itu Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I think MÖG is quite a lot like this, and its predecessor was a Quadrafuzz designed by Craig Anderton. https://dpw.se/product/mog-d1-4-band-distortion/ https://craiganderton.org/multiband-signal-processing/ I have had a MÖG but the adjustments were too aggressive for me. I think metal players use it somewhat. Quote

Gas is getting to me Reminds me of my old VFE Triumvirate. It's a good idea but I never felt there was sufficient separation between each band of distortion. That was quite a while ago so perhaps the technology has moved on. But, as you say, it all comes down to the flavour of distortion and if it's to your liking. The demo on the Zorg demo doesn't sound good to me but if you're recording with a Dano Longhorn with dead strings there's only so much tone you're going to get! Quote

Yeah, I like the idea of it, but the clean bass already sounded pretty crap, so I can't say I'm much of a fan of the distorted sound either. Quote
