I've noticed over the last few years of so Thomann don't seem to hold much stock anymore. I thought originally it was due to pandemic logistics issue but it looks like its continuing on into 2025. I realize they're probably saving money by not holding loads of inventory but when other on-line stores have the same items ready to ship it doesn't seem to make sense to be losing impatient customers. Sorry if there's a thread already on this subject.

I'm uncertain what sort of payment terms suppliers offer businesses like Thomann (or what their markup would be), but with logistics being as they are nowadays it does make more monetary sense to take an order from a customer, buy-in the part/instrument from the European distribution company and then ship from Thomann, even if it adds a few extra days on the delivery.

I'm sure some suppliers can facilitate deliveries direct to customers, obviating any necessity for Thomann to even touch the stock it's selling.

I'm not sure what you mean. They currently have more than 1000 basses listed as in stock. Admittedly they have a lot more listed as currently out of stock, but it's just a matter of scale I think.

Suspect the point of the original post was that (despite them having a thousand basses in stock), that there is an awful lot of product that's available to ship within a few days - be this basses, guitars, brass, whatever - rather than it being able to be shipped same day.

From personal a perspective, I'm fairly picky in what I want to use, so would probably struggle to find any more than two or three basses that I would want to own from whatever they carry from their current level of inventory.

That’s 1000 models, the actual number of physical basses will be much, much higher as they’ll keep multiples in stock. I’d guess they keep hundreds of best sellers like HB/sire basses in each colour in stock.

I've been using Thomann as means create wish lists to constantly work on theoretical studios in specific budgets to be sure when the time comes I have come to a conclusion of what to buy to ensure I make the best decision possible when I do.

I've been waiting on money a number of times and so this has been a number of years.

Due to this being a almost daily activity for myself I  have noticed this a lot and through out many fields of equipment, mainly becuase I will have ideas just to fill my time of other setups other than just my main mix studio idea.

I have noticed more and more that companies seem to be disappearing off of the website or only keep a limited number of their products and this list gets smaller all the time.

At first I wondered if they are either losing contracts with companies or if they are abandoning them.

Always whatever item I want I can most of the time find it being sold many other places.

And what I see is a them have company products and the item get sold out and then disappear and not come back, then this happen with other products from the company and the amount of item from the company go down and down.

I have brought from them before and every time I do there's always hassle with shipping and they seem to be quick to answer random question just out of curiosity but when you buy their customer service quality suddenly drops considerably.

They seem to have made a update to the app I asked for which allows you to put it on night mode as I requested it so I could do it at night without the brightness not help with falling asleep.

Becuase of this I assumed there's nothing wrong with the company to be making such small changes as this.

Are they losing contracts or are they abandoning companies, or, are they lowering their product counts to save on over heads?

Are they finding their site seems to sell specific category's more and they are focusing on that?

The thing is, there does not seem to be any information from them directly explaining this.

At this point, I only trust them for making lists, but soon that will be pointless.

The problem is there's so many other companies where they sell some things they don't but then again that's the same between the other ones also.

I kinda annoying.

There are of course companies that do not distribute their items and you have to buy direct which of course will not be on these sites but at least you save a ton of money buying those things becuase of this.

any word from the actual company on these things?

Thomann is perhaps like Netflix  - tens of thousands of products online, but not the specific ones that I want.

I wanted the Behringer umc404hd  - originally out of stock for up to 6 weeks, and now a 9 to 12 week wait time. Amazon have just one in stock, for twice the Thomann price.

So, I made do with my existing Xenyx 4 channel mixer, into a semi-functional Yamaha AG03 interface box.

It takes up more desk space and I still need to buy a midi-to-USB cable.  However, it means that I am still in the Gear Abstinence challenge - and I am still playing bass and keyboard, rather than looking for kit to "improve" my skills.
