Need Advice on Connecting My Bass to Computer and Monitoring Options

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I’d like to connect my bass guitar to my computer via an interface, but I’m not sure what studio monitors I should buy to ensure I can hear the low frequencies. I’d like to experiment a bit with VST plugins and recording my guitar. Maybe it’s not worth thinking about monitors and it would be better to buy a good combo amp with an XLR output, but I’m not sure how to record in a way that I can hear both the backing track and my guitar.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You might be better off using a decent set of studio headphones, rather than studio monitors? That way you get decent sound reproduction at a lower cost than having to shell out for quality studio monitors and a subwoofer.

That said, I bought some low/mid-range (i.e. cheap) full range active studio monitors and I can hear the bass just fine through them without any need for a sub etc.
