ikay
Was working fine, next day - dead. Unscrewed the top part (cartridge) and the connecting wires are all intact. Checked XLR cables etc. Can't think of anything else that go wrong! Has anyone else experienced a dead SM58 and what the problem might be? A replacement cartridge (R59) is around $100 which isn't a whole lot less than a new mic (also I can't find anyone who sells one in the UK). Any input appreciated. Thanks. BigRedX
Have you been in touch with the UK part of Shure? about 10 years ago I needed spare parts for Mr Venom's very abused Shure Super 55 and they sorted me out at a reasonable price.
ikay
I checked the Sure UK website for replacement parts and they don't list the R59 capsule. Good idea to contact them though so I'll do that now. Thanks Update: Spoke to the tech support bods at Shure UK and a new capsule would cost £79 which isn't much less than a new mic. They suggested a new one would prob be the better option. Edited October 31 by ikay
