Clarky Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 That absolutely takes the biscuit as the worst conversion I have EVER seen - love the acres of space between edge of fingerboard and E string Quote
lemmywinks Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I'd swap the word "conversion" for "abomination". Looked like a really nice bass too Quote
V4lve Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 Looks to me like it may have snapped off? Is it likely there was a flaw in the wood? Quote
josh3184 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 That's realy quite awful! How did they think it'd be good idea?!?! Quote

Happy Jack Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 That is so bad that it's genuinely funny. Why on earth did they not just buy a replacement neck? Quote
Bassassin Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 It's obviously just broken where the top edge of the headstock was laminated. Doesn't look like it would be too hard to fix for a luthier or a bodger who's handy with a bit of wood. Pretty laughable trying to pass it off as a "conversion". Jon. Quote
Golchen Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Totally bloody ridiculous. Whoever did that was a cretin. Quote
bozzbass Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) i like the way it is described as 'Fender Squire Pro-Tone 5-String Precision Bass / Converted to 4-String' as if its a special feature. somedays, i love the internet Edited June 1, 2009 by bozzbass Quote
jonny-lad Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Wouldn't it be easier to covert it to a four-string by just removing the B-string instead of ruining a decent bass?!...it'd certainly look better as a 5-string with a string missing IMO! Quote

hubrad Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Glad to know that "This guitar is in Great condition, with some belt scratch marks on the back body" Would be interesting to see 'ex-demo'... Quote
Ou7shined Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) I have a sneaky feeling he might be doing the right thing selling it as is (although the missing saddle is a pain and the really bad buckle rash off putting) I think an obvious repair would devalue it more and the bass is not worth paying for an invisible repair. It's much better going to folk like us that can do it ourselves. Edited June 1, 2009 by Ou7shined Quote

Delberthot Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I'd personally be too embarrassed to let my friends see what an ar$e I'd made of this, never mind the whole world. What a Jack Danny Quote

Kongo Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 What the HELL!? That's so stupid it made me cringe...why would anyone do that? Chop some headstock off and make a 4-string? Adding a string works...loosing one doesn't. I've never heard of this model before either...but I'm not sure. The old Squier series were basic...nothing fancy like this...But again, who knows what's out there! That's just stupid man! Quote
