November Composition Challenge

Another close call with a split decision in October sees the honours shared between @AndyTravis @Dad3353 and @upside downer and due congratulations to them all

Apropos of nothing, I asked  Douglas to provide our inspiration , actually, I think he was due a turn anyway.

Suffice to say, he has kept this close to the heart of a lot what goes on around here ...

here's the picture I've chosen; not much explanation needed...

"Must you know that yours will be the “better” picture before you pick up the brush and paint? Can it not simply be another picture? Another expression of beauty? Must a rose be “better” than an iris in order to justify it’s existence? I tell you this: you are all flowers in the Garden of the Gods." Neale Donald Walsch

✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.

✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on

✖️ No Bagpipes/panpipes unless they are Mancunian and played/ recorded live within the tram stop at Salford Quays.

✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..

Deadline-wise, we will go for Midnight on the 24th (effectively afternoon on the 25th), as I will be returning from a weekend of hedonism, having taken Mrs Lurks away to celebrate her 60th.

A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be super smashing.

Good luck, Have fun

Here we go then

start slowly and maybe a bit repetitive but build up the little victories until an inevitable crash , but then start again at a more progressive rate until you get more success.

The title is an an anagram as I couldn't think what to call it :D

Ez drummer does a fair bit , then I have guitar tracks with the Ibby through various Waves GTR3 effects and the Gretsch Junior Jet, reasonably clean, all in Reaper with a touch of Ozone 8.

the last months embedding victory has now been thwarted.

Started messing about, didn’t really try to make it specifically Iris-ish.

But, like her story, starts tentatively and full of tension and the second the bass player gets involved - there’s no stopping.

The bass is a Jack Casady anniversary, the guitar a Yamaha FG and the rest is GarageBand.

I thought about doing more - but I liked it.

The bass playing is a mix of Cliff Burton, Hooky and Pino Palladino…just not as good.

Enjoy.

Here is my contribution to the November 2024 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by myself (with permission from fellow winners Andy Travis and Upside Downer...).
Rock'n'Roll, concert-going, half-pipe racing, whoops'n'bump ramps... Nothing stops this little lady. Rock on..!
Double-tracked Xaviere guitar (Helix Vst presets...), and doubled up basses (Verithin and HB-50, both with Helix Vst presets...), drums by Superior Drummer 3. Reaper, naturally, for recording, mixing and rendering, with a dose of Ozone everywhere to fatten in all up and glue it together.
Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.

In a break with tradition, and possibly inspired by rediscovering my DOD Envelope Filter, I've ditched atonality and racket for ethereal vocals, a rousing PFunk chorus and a Phat bassline complete with solo... Not many lyrics, but they're about the joys of working together.

Wal is not only going through DOD filter and Darkglass overdrive, but also triggering 5 synths....

Early, for once...

A bubbly, bouncy little tune with some twists, some turns but always a happy vibe.

MT Drums, Westfield Les Paul copy, Westfield P-bass copy, Digitech RP80 pedal, Roland Cube amp, Wavepad, Audacity, Ableton and tons of enthusiasm.

Here's my entry, 'Ramps' I just managed to finish it off and put together a simple video before tunning out of time.

I aimed for a cinematic feel to go along with Iris's cool ramp action.

Recorded in Logic, using Logic drums, My Fender Vintera 70s telecaster custom & Gibson non-reverse thunderbird went into my Fender mustang GTX100 amp connected to the Mac Mini via usb.

Stock logic plugins were used for keyboards and processing.
