I have no horse in this race, but maybe this thread could be used to arrange a meet up of any BCers in the same boat as @kevin_lindsay with travel and accommodation already booked?

When life gives you lemons, and all that?

Great idea. Likewise no skin in the game here, I've always been booked on holiday for June 1st.

A central London bass bash would be great - take in Bass Gallery, see how many basschatters can fit in the Wunjo basement, pub crawl around all the Bass Brewery pubs etc

Aye, I was thinking that. As a Londoner who lives ‘just down the road’ I can, if I’m still available (Mrs Bat hasn’t organised for me to be somewhere else!) arrange a tour of interesting places, where tourists don’t get so ripped off etc. Or at least offer advice as needed!

Some sort of International Bass Bash seems sensible. Be rude not to!

I'm arriving on Saturday 31st May, and I've now got the Sunday with nothing planned as the show is off, then returning home late on Monday afternoon (I'll most probably pop in to catch up with the guys in The Bass Gallery during the day on Monday).

I guess it was poor ticket sales.

Absolute shambles from start to finish

Mmmm.....maybe theres a connection here  🤣  I've mentioned in previous posts / threads about this type of event and the way they drip feed the customer base with info about the event. We are a very niche hobby group spread out in all corners of the UK. Not everyone lives in London / Birmingham / Liverpool etc. and even if you do you still have to plan ahead and budget for albeit lower travelling / food / beer costs. Anywhere outside of these areas can be a significant outlay and all based on a notion that "something might happen". I'm glad I didn't commit to going as I would now be £500 out of pocket for transport & hotel, not a happy bunny and very unlikely I would consider going to another one if its run the same way. 😢

I can’t say I’m surprised, sadly. The BC collective’s initial gut reaction to this event does seem to have been spot on. :(

I sincerely hope that any monies paid to the organisers is refunded in full and swiftly. 🤞

It seems the only announcement on this has been the website page. Nothing on their social media apart from all posts being removed from Instagram.

I'm still 50/50 on scam vs disfunctional shambles...

I've been extremely skeptical since it was first announced and how slow the information being shared was. Then when we got more detail the organisation on the day didn't seem to have any logic of clarity to it. Plus the shocking use of poor quality logos in the website just added to how unprofessional this was looking.

The informal bass bashes organised by people voluntarily on here seem to have more thought into things.

I was willing to give this the benefit of the doubt and see what the reports were after it had taken place, but I do wonder how long this 'postponement' will be...

Here we are, the afternoon after it was announced that the event had been cancelled  (or "postponed"), and I've still received no notification from the organisers regarding this.

Hopefully they'll be in touch soon regarding the refund of my £47 ticket.

Even if that comes through, I'll still be out of pocket by around £350 for the train travel and hotel cost that I've paid out.

Im worried by the statement that they will "contact customers individually"... If they were planning to auto refund tickets they would just have said it right? The "individual contacts" sound like some negotiations on compensative measures 🫠

Or no refund at all...

Mrstheelvy raised a good point when I mentioned this, namely that 'postponement' is not equal to 'cancellation', in name at least. So refunds may not be as automatic as would be liked...

I am SURE there will be a better turnout for when they find a new time after this "postponement", after basically scamming the initial audience who would have been the target... yeah right. We'll just rush to buy those new tickets!

Wasn't this event being organised by the same guy/team behind Bass Review magazine? The one that has taken people's money for 16 issues and delivered 12 (there's a separate thread on it on this very forum)?

I hope that both Bass Day and the magazine were started with the best of intentions, but it looks to me like we're moving into Letts Bass/Darrin Huff/SGD/Dr Bass territory here.

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I have to wonder if the cash he raised from Bass Day went towards keeping the magazine afloat. Robbing Peter to pay Paul perhaps.

Good luck to all those who are owed money back.

Without wanting to be a downer, and it’s a shame that this is my reaction to this particular event…but is anyone actually surprised?

It seemed like a scam from the start, not saying it was, but that’s not the kind of optics that leads to a successful pre-event ticketing campaign.

That's the email just arrived from the organisers,  informing me of the event cancellation (postponement).

They're offering two options:

1 - rolling your ticket over to a possible planned event in 2026.

Or,

2 - refund of the ticket cost.

Needless to say, I've requested a refund!
