What's with the extra knob placement?  They're almost meshed together like gears!

Yep that’s an ugly mod likely the combined result of limited cavity space and lack of circuit design imagination or skill. Shame

Certainly a lack of aesthetic sense. There's a BB2000 showing up in the "Similar items" bar with identical PJ layout and a switch (presumably neck/both/bridge), and the jack socket in the side. Would have been far better if the modifier had put the (presumably) blend pot in the switch location and left the jack socket where it was rather than moving it to the switch position.

A BB1200  wouldn't have had a switch, and the jack socket would be where it is now. It would have been better to move the jack socket to the BB2000 position.

One or two stacked pots would have been so much better. I doubt that was done by NWG, it's very poor, I assume the seller simply bough the parts from them and did a DIY mod/install. If it landed chez Beedster I would rewire with stacks and fill the hole, it would bug me otherwise 🤔

If I was BB2000-ing my BB1200, I'd have fitted a switch in the jack socket hole and moved the jack to the side.  Just like a BB2000 then.  Although this entire thing pains me and I think I'd sooner just procure a BB2000 if I was so inclined.

I don't get the switch thing though, it doesn't allow any balancing between PUPs which is pretty important on a PJ after all (unless you do away with tone control), or am I missing something?

The only magic I've ever heard someone tell me about PJs is them both on full whack does something interesting.  I use blend pots like switches anyway - I honestly have never seen (or heard for that matter) the point in blend controls.  I'm a simple soul.

Yes, I think you're probably right.

I'm pretty much the opposite, I love to solo the Jazz snarl bringing in just a little bit of Precision grunt to taste, or vice versa. This seems to me to be the whole point of a P/J! Horses and courses eh 👍
