Wassssupp bass fam,

I recently dragged my 400+ outta the loft after a number of years and remembered I'm missing a SINGLE EQ slider knob, is there any chance, out there in the wild, one of you lot have one in a draw just incase haha

Or if anyone knows any good alternatives to replace the whole set let me know

Here is a picture of the beast for all you who like looking at amps (i know i do)

Great amps. I really enjoyed mine.

Not sure of a source for the part, but maybe 3D printing might come to your rescue.

Yh its an absolute beast tbh! Worth the back pain in my eyes as nothing sounds like a ballsy tube amp.

Ahh of course I did look at something before for 3d printing a few years back, but wasnt able to find anything, i'll have a look now see if someone has created a template and uploaded the source files. Cheers 🤘

A quick search on e.g. Amazon for "slider knobs" gives loads, such as...

... but you'll need to check the size of the shaft.

Thanks for the suggestion but im looking to keep it as authentic as possible. So a replacement or 3d printed copy of an original would be where i would wanna be tbh.

Respect to you for getting it up into and down from the loft, respect to your house for the weight not collapsing the ceiling 😂

To be honest lads I may have found an offical one in Germany after doing some research, looks like they stock loads of tube amp parts

https://www.tubeampdoctor.com/en/mesa-boogie-push-on-knob-for-eq?c=103

I've pinged them an email to confirm they are the right ones as I think the EQ sliders on the Mark series guitar amps are a weee bit smaller but we will see

If this aint right ill be back on the 3d print hunt

I won't fight you for it 😂

Got a couple of SLA printers at work so could do a nice resin print to look like the original. They look easy enough to model but if not, also have a 3D scanner

My fighting days are long gone, so you've won this fight :)

I only have FDM (2 x Prusa Mk4, not the MK4S which came out about eight weeks after I brought this paid, bitter and twisted? Yep) so that might be a plus or minus for the knobs. I do have a 3d scanner but it's down at the moment as I need to rebuild the Mac to work with it.

The slight issue with the slider knobs that occurred to me is that they are often (normally?) push on and have a little flex to them so they grip the metal notch. That's based on a large sample set of about three slider knobs, so not statistically significant. Would it be a good idea to have some flex in the knobs, e.g. a rubber glue that is set inside the knob before it's inserted, that might grip a bit better. Of course I could be talking complete bollocks here :)

Just seen the previous email re Germany. They do look easy to print and they also look like they grip the slider.

Lets see what comes out of this.

Thanks

Rob

Basements are much more practical than lofts in my humble opinion! :)

Here in the UK, basements (or cellars as we call them) are often the coldest dampest parts of the house in my experience, so I would be reluctant to store electrical items in a basement. My loft on the other hand is very dry.

In which case as you are local, I'll store all my stuff in your attic rather than my cellar. Cheers and thanks 😊

In all the houses I've owned the cellars were cold dank holes, and one used to flood to a depth of 6 inches in heavy rain. If you've got a dry one, you're fortunate indeed.

As for storing stuff in my attic, we've been attempting to clear ours of junk for the last two weeks as it was becoming impossible to move about up there!

As you are local, I'll come round and drop my stuff in your attic once you've cleared it.

Two weeks, pah, not even trying. We still have unopened boxes from three house moves ago. Not sure what's in them to be honest, now I think back on it, not seen the kids for some time... mmm....

Yes I know -✝️ I lived in the UK until we came to Toronto in late 1973..  I always considered that a house with an unfinished basement incomplete and such a waste of useable space. My basement here contains my dad's baby grand piano, my B15NF, a bed settee for guests, and a complete bathroom with walk in shower. It's fully carpeted is dry, warm and inviting. :)

The folks who stay down there love it's comfort. :)
