I'm considering purchasing a Sterling Ray34. I've borrowed an EBMM SUB a while ago and found the neck to be too chunky for my hands, as a Jazz Bass aficionado. Does anyone have experience with both basses, and can tell me something about the difference between the two?

I had one of the first run SUBs and first run Ray34s. IIRC the neck on the SUB was slimmer. However, things may have changed, although a quick look at Ray34 specs shows a 43mm nit width. The Ray24 Classic, on the other hand, has a J style 38mm nut width.

Yeah I was also looking at the 24 in white, but that is very hard to get by here in NL, whereas the Ray34 is available in blue sparkle. And who wouldn't want a blue sparkle bass?

The Sterling Ray4 (the cheapest version of a Stingray) has a Jazz Style neck. I've owned a USA Stingray SUB, a USA Standard Stingray and now own a Sterling Ray4. The Ray4 has the best neck if you like Jazz Bass style necks.

I've found a blue sparkle Ray34 :) So that's what I'm hesitating about: do I get that and risk the chunkier neck, or wait a month or more for the white 24?

They look fantastic in the flesh.
