Anyone got any recommendations for good insurance peeps to cover your gear?

I've been with Allianz until recently - they seem good as far as their customer service and price goes, but I've not had to claim from them yet. But, they've just sold their musician's policies to another company but are still underwriting them.

Free with Musicians Union membership. Cover is for a lot of the things other Insurers don't cover.

But not for a massive amount. I suspect that they typical Basschat member would still need to take out extra insurance just cover the equipment they use at gigs.

My band is with Allianz, who seem very good and personable on the phone, about £75 for a year's PLI. But haven't had to make a claim....

Does the PLI include gear insurance? To what level / value?

It doesn't include gear insurance, it is just PLI. We recently changed a band member in the line up and Allianz didn't charge for updating our policy, which must be a first for an insurance company.

I have Allianz home-only music insurance for approx 30ks worth of equipment & the premium is tiny. Very easy to add or remove items and a nice itemised statement comes every 3 months. They have great reviews

It can do - my policy has both PLI and gear insurance. I'm paying about £75 a year as well, but we only do a handful of gigs each year, and they ask how many gigs you do. I have two accordions, a mandocello and a PA covered - total value about £4k.

I need to get some insurance and PLI sorted out for some gigs this month. 

Can i ask if any of the above cover laptops as well? I tried Newmoon but couldn't see the option. I know Musicguard does it, and will probably go with them, but wanted to shop around if possible first.
