p4ul Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I think my pre amp finally died.. new batteries and still the noises of doom. fine on the passive op. any one know of a tech that might be able to diagnose a million year old french board? Quote
Aidan63 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Dave Smart [email protected] He's Patrice's/HTD's recommended partner in the UK, should be able to help Edited November 11, 2024 by Aidan63 1 Quote
Hellzero Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Not to frighten you @p4ul , but even Patrice (Vigier), when he was still active, simply changed the complete board as the earlier one were prone to big issues, but it's always fixable by a tech who knows what he does. 😉 Edited November 11, 2024 by Hellzero 1 Quote
p4ul Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 Thanks for the replies. I know it’s a longshot and I know that a lot of people have taken out the old preamps because they do die of old age. but the thing is it’s part of the sound of the base and I’m not sure that there’s anything quite as tonally mad out there to replace it 😀 Would like to see if I can keep it going Quote
Hellzero Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I knew that I had the 1982 preamp version schematic somewhere. Here its is @p4ul : And the layout: 2 2 Quote
