To be fair, perhaps he likes the feel of playing on a Jazz pickup at the rear and this gave the same feel... looks odd though. And that defretting job is simply breathtaking...ly shit.

Superbly done deffreting job too!

Strange new usage of the word "superbly" I hadn't heard before....

Looks like the frets were pulled out by his teeth

Filled with epoxy resin apparently...

I think the way he's calculated the value is slight wrong. He should be deducting what he's done to the price not adding it

The holes under the strings were for what was termed a 'tug bar' back in the day - the forerunner of a thumb rest, where the fingers would be curled around it, and the strings plucked with the thumb.

According to the link below, the tug bar was added by Fender to accommodate Monk Montgomery, one of the first professional users of the Fender Bass. He played with his thumb, just as his brother Wes did. He later switched to using a felt pick.

Sorry but how can the “whatever it is under the strings by the bridge” work?

do you put your fingers on it between the strings and then use your thumb? I’ve just tried it on my bass using the bridge pickup and it feels very odd.
