I know these things are very much down to specs and materials, but what sort of price range does he sit in?

If I were to commission a bass, being able to support a local guy would be handy!

That’s probably something you’d be best to discuss with Mark.

I’ve added on some nice parts to the spec on mine, between the electronics and top.

i was only quoted a ( very fair ) price after I’d been and spoken with him and discussed every tiny detail.

He’ll quote you a price range if you contact him, and this is pretty much right st the top of that, and then a bit, taking the electronics into account, but I’d still encourage you to get in touch with him as you’re unlikely to be shocked with how high it is.

Oh Mark has done you proud there John.

Wonderful end to 2024 🙂

Such a great and humble guy to work with, I can't way to play it and hear it.

We're currently discussing a neck thru hippie sandwich for the latter half of next year.
I've always been a fan of Jimmy Johnson with James Taylor.

Really impressive! :i-m_so_happy:  I'd love to have a bespoke custom bass made, sadly unlikely to happen, but on the plus side I've enjoyed having owned many lovely vintage basses (including 3 Wals) before prices went totally bananas 🍌 and out of the reach of the ordinary player

Shouldn't this thread be in "Build diaries" though?

Ahh, that's my mistake.

That's a very simple story.
I sold it for £350 in the early 90s.

You did better than me.

JG Custom, leather scratchplate so one of the first 50 Wal built.

£250 cash and a beat to blazes Gibson SG. Later took £50 for the SG due to being on the bones of ma arse 😃

I've no wish to see the early 90's return 🤣

Aye,
If you've lived through hard times, you NEVER forget it.

Damn straight. I'm equal parts grateful for having the Wal and finding somebody with spare cash.

Getting shot of it meant month's deposit for rented flat, that put an end to couch surfing and sleeping rough.
