JohnFitzgerald
Thanks to @kodiakblair for putting me in touch with the builder, this is currently underway. Herrick pickups Lusithand preamp. My drawings provided to the builder for templating. Inspired by a well known bass, but with one or two intentional deviations, in the interests of not being an exact clone.

He has a great, patient approach to the process. A very neat and methodical worker.
kodiakblair
What always gets me is I'd known about his 'Super Yob' guitars for a year to 18 months, had posted photos on a few forums, before I found out he was just up the road 😀

BassApprentice
I know these things are very much down to specs and materials, but what sort of price range does he sit in? If I were to commission a bass, being able to support a local guy would be handy!

I’ve added on some nice parts to the spec on mine, between the electronics and top. i was only quoted a ( very fair ) price after I’d been and spoken with him and discussed every tiny detail. He’ll quote you a price range if you contact him, and this is pretty much right st the top of that, and then a bit, taking the electronics into account, but I’d still encourage you to get in touch with him as you’re unlikely to be shocked with how high it is. I've always been a fan of Jimmy Johnson with James Taylor.
Shaggy Posted Saturday at 18:58 Share Posted Saturday at 18:58 Really impressive! I'd love to have a bespoke custom bass made, sadly unlikely to happen, but on the plus side I've enjoyed having owned many lovely vintage basses (including 3 Wals) before prices went totally bananas 🍌 and out of the reach of the ordinary player Shouldn't this thread be in "Build diaries" though? JG Custom, leather scratchplate so one of the first 50 Wal built. £250 cash and a beat to blazes Gibson SG. Later took £50 for the SG due to being on the bones of ma arse 😃 I've no wish to see the early 90's return 🤣

I'm equal parts grateful for having the Wal and finding somebody with spare cash. Getting shot of it meant month's deposit for rented flat, that put an end to couch surfing and sleeping rough.
