JPJ
So after years of EUB ownership, becoming empty nesters this year has opened the space opportunity to owning a real doghouse. As mentioned in my other thread requesting advice, I have had this lovely Boosey Hawkes Excelsior 50/2 on loan for a little while and today I have bought her. Previously owned and used by @Blartfactor10 she’s an honest workhorse bass with a great dark tone - perfect for my blue grass / country / Americana acoustic trio 😎

Staggering on
Looks great and you will have a lot of fun with "Lilly". In your other thread it was suggested that it was a Czech bass, just like my '70's Czech bass "Peaches" but I like your fingerboard and tailpiece better than the plain ebony on mine. As others have said it is real workhorse and I use it for bluegrass and some jazz and folk, photo from earlier this week below, I put it in the "How Was Your Gig " thread a couple of days ago. Fun to play and loud, I use Spiro Mittels, I changed from the Obligatos that came with it and it totally transformed the sound. Enjoy!

jonnybass Posted Friday at 09:49 Share Posted Friday at 09:49 Looks lovely JPJ, I started my double bass journey just a month ago and I am loving the challenge of playing. The sound they produce playing it is incredible i think. Enjoy! Jonny

Hmmm, I guess that sounds a bit weird and some might be wondering what I'm really thinking about when I'm playing, but it's all good clean fun, although I do enjoy "dancing" with her when I play. 😊 Edited Friday at 16:35 by Staggering on 2

As I generally refuse to dance on account of my two left feet, I’d better not start dancing with Lilly or Mrs JPJ will get jealous 😂
