Squier PJ Standard special - pickup question/help

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded the pups on a squier pj standard (special) without much modification/bother

 

I was looking at the emg gzr solderless set.  Would they be a good option (rock/metal with a pick)  or are there any others anybody would recommend?

They should all be a standard size, so it shouldn't be too much bother - especially if you're going solderless and using all the EMG gubbins.

 

The GZRs are well thought of, I have no personal experience of them so all I have is internet hearsay and gossip.  I will say I've never read/heard anyone outright say awful things about them, put it that way.

I’ve not used them but our stand in guitarist put them in his Aerodyne Jazz and he says they brought it to life.

I would double check the J neck pickup dimensions as I have a feeling that it's the narrow neck size.

I put a set of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in mine and it sounded awesome. Straight fit, no mods
