bubinga5 Posted Saturday at 22:22 Share Posted Saturday at 22:22 I'm looking to pick up a used 6 string. I do like a flat neck back to front. Nothing below 18 mm spacing. I'm looking at a Yamaha TRB1006 as I used to own a TRB6ll and it was amazing but other suggestions are welcome. Does anyone own a 1006? What are your thoughts on it. Schnozzalee Posted Sunday at 02:37 Share Posted Sunday at 02:37 Cort A6 was my favourite, but I think the string spacing is tighter than a Yammy.
biro Posted Sunday at 12:13 Share Posted Sunday at 12:13 I bought a TRB1006J and it has become pretty much my go-to bass. I also have several Japanese Soundgears and I think the quality is up there. The Yamaha's wide neck and flat (40") radius is amazing—I think there is a reason why they are an industry standard!
Hellzero Posted Sunday at 14:24 Share Posted Sunday at 14:24 This: https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/instruments_de_musique/2481532893 Amazing Benedetti pickups and excellent (when you understand how it works) Aguilar preamp. Barrillon is the luthier who bought Benedetti when Michel died.
horrorshowbass Posted Sunday at 17:35 Share Posted Sunday at 17:35 Flat neck and great pickups? Ibanez comes to mind. Probably save a few quid too.

The A6 or a BTB, also 17mm, were going to be my suggestions. 12 hours ago, biro said: I think there is a reason why they are an industry standard! I'm sorry, but says who? Burns-bass Posted Monday at 06:22 Share Posted Monday at 06:22 Anyway, back to the original question… I have played and owned a TRB6. They’re lovely basses. I found the radius to be a little too flat for me but that’s personal. If you can get a mid-90s Japanese version that’s the best one. binky_bass Posted Monday at 07:30 Share Posted Monday at 07:30 Another vote for the Cort A6, I've had a few over the years and they do punch well above their second hand price point. £350-400 or so for a decent second hand one would be a good price. Sauron_ Posted Monday at 10:46 Share Posted Monday at 10:46 I had 2 TRB1006's and a Patitucci. Now I play a Cort A6 with Bartolini USA electronics. Sounds better, weights half a TRB and it doen's neck dive like the TRBs I had.
biro Posted Monday at 12:41 Share Posted Monday at 12:41 Might app 11 hours ago, crazycloud said: I'm sorry, but says who? Might apply more to older TRBs as they really were ubiquitous. Then again, I don't have anything more than anecdotal evidence.

Shockwave
The issue is trying to find something with 18mm+ string spacing for that money. Most options are 17.5mm or less. I think the best possibility is the new Squier 6 string Jazz. It's 18mm and 34" Scale. 1
