You are probably right ... this may be the first Jazz Bass Special series made in Japan (?) ... I should have written "Duff McKagan before Duff McKagan" 😅 Also, I am not entirely sure whether the serial is "G" or "C" ... I think is "G" ... however "C" would put the bass back a few years. I used to own a Japanese Fender Jazz Bass Special too, ala Duff’s model, mine had the selector switch, Black hardware, headstock & neck, with a Black body. I believe it was the original version, as far as I can remember, mine was purchased in 86. The model for sale on this thread came out slightly after, with a sleeker body shape, different pick ups & tuning posts.
