Fender Jazz Bass Special (1987) Made in Japan

All parts are original, and the colour is Yellow/Champagne

Great sounding bass, with highly resonating body

Dent on the bottom body (see pictures); apart from that, very good condition overall

It includes a Fender bag in fair condition but still functional

Nice looking bass. However, Duff's model had a selector switch, black hardware, a black headstock and a black painted neck. His bass also came with a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup (although, I am not sure it originally came with one, maybe he got it changed later).

You are probably right ... this may be the first Jazz Bass Special series made in Japan (?) ... I should have written "Duff McKagan before Duff McKagan" 😅

Also, I am not entirely sure whether the serial is "G" or "C" ... I think is "G" ... however "C" would put the bass back a few years.

Duff bought his in a Guitar Center in Hollywood in 87 (from his advance for Appetite) and it was a 86 model.

Do you think the letter in the serial is a "G" or a "C"?

I think yours is a PJR 65 - Jazz Bass Special. Here's one in black. Funnily, Danny also cannot decide whether the serial is a "C" or a "G" 🙂

Great sounding active bass (and Duff's is passive).

GLWTS 👍

Yes, I did see that one. I think it is in better condition than mine; hence the price.

Mine has a ding on the body, as you can see from the pictures.

It is priced to sell 🙂

Sorry to hijack this post.
I used to own a Japanese Fender Jazz Bass Special too, ala Duff’s model, mine had the selector switch,  Black hardware, headstock & neck, with a Black body.

I believe it was the original version, as far as I can remember, mine was purchased in 86.

The model for sale on this thread came out slightly after, with a sleeker body shape, different pick ups & tuning posts.

Duff had changed out the original pickups for Seymour Duncan’s
