EssentialTension Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Title says it all. So what's the answer? Quote
Reggaebass Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I use the Hercules ones with the neck support too Quote

tony_m Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I've got a K & M Memphis, similar style to the Hercules and very solid... https://www.londonguitarstudio.com/p/k-m-memphis-pro-deluxe-guitar-stand Quote

KingPrawn Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I use these if we have a stage punters can't get close to. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/hercules-gs-402b-mini-electric-stand/3076?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_lAC-dOVj2rk48KHbXpLJINU11Z&gclid=CjwKCAiAxea5BhBeEiwAh4t5K4C-hN9fqnR9mEwuo8vDC35Eg8OJLO9ammvfc4D2eMp5IJcO-DjQShoC15AQAvD_BwE or one of these to deter the "i used to play bass" brigade for floor level gigs https://www.gak.co.uk/en/hercules-gs414b-plus-guitar-stand/918478?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_lAC-dOVj2rk48KHbXpLJINU11Z&gclid=CjwKCAiAxea5BhBeEiwAh4t5K_QHjRvznz79fCn3hylCILwfA3xJBeRVs8wGjSXRXglWEdsEn2WNXRoC8dwQAvD_BwE Quote
neepheid Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I have used both the Hercules and K&M on awkward shaped basses (Gibson RD/Explorer/T-bird). They're both good but the K&M is telescopic and packs down a lot smaller than the Hercules without having to dismantle it. However, the Hercules grabby mechanism is superior IMO. Also the Hercules is a bit heavier than the K&M, so it's less likely to be knocked over which sometimes happens to me with the K&M during an unclean dismount of the bass. I don't play Jazz basses, but if you want a compact stand, the Rotosound RGS-200 works with a Jaguar, which is offset. Just needs to sit it a little to the left in the stand. Observe the difference compared to a Sire D5 (which is not offset). Quote
tauzero Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 A couple of feet from me are two basses with Jazz-type asymmetric bodies sitting on two different types of stand, both of which work well. One is on the aforementioned Hercules stand, the other is on a Stagg stand with a pivoting cradle. I've got a few of the Stagg ones, I think they're great. Quote
Martin E Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 After a couple of near misses with smaller stands I bought a Fender deluxe hanging stand. Only 25 quid but has larger footprint than many and hence is very stable. Quote
EssentialTension Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 It's the offset of the Jazz bass I am concerned about. Quote

Burns-bass Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Seriously though all stands are fine. Only issue I had is that some can react with a nitro finish if your bass has one. Hercules stands are the best made ones. Quote
SimonK Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 My instruments have scars that prove not all stands are equal. Currently I'm using one of these and apart from once when I put a bass on too quickly and it didn't grab it properly, not had any problems: Quote
chris_b Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I put my basses back in the gigbags when they're not being played. 1 Quote
