What's the best stand for a Jazz Bass?

When I was briefly under the illusion that a 5'9", mid-fifties, slightly chubby and balding bloke could get away with a Thunderbird, I had one of these to pop my Nikki Sixx signature bass on:

 

...and nice and sturdy it was too.

 

Now I have a double Hercules "grab" stand which performs the same function for my age-appropriate Precision and Jazz basses.

Another vote for the Hercules, got mine over 15 yrs ago IIRC and it's still my main stand. One of those bits of kit you'd just replace like for like if it got stolen/lost/damaged.

Depends.

 

If its an in the house stand I use a Ruach stand like this:

Spendy but with my ACG recurve (Offset body) on it, its more of a furniture feature.  There are cheaper versions of this type too.

 

If its a take to gig stand Hercules which many people have already mentioned.

 

I have a Jazz, p bass and the ACG recurve all play nicely with both stands.

The old one with the "lame" arm stays at home in the music room. Replacing it was a no-brainer

On the original designs you can take the latching assembly apart and realign the arms, did that to mine years ago when it went wonky and it's fine now. Tried to do the same to a mate's but it was riveted together instead of using screws.
