Proud dad! Two bass players in the house

Two of mine are in bands now, one on bass, the other on guitar.   I'm very jealous of the awesome gigs they get to play (Brudenell, Parasido in Amsterdam, Glastonbury, a Marc Riley session), and they're very jealous that my gigs tend to be better paid!

One added benefit of having your kids into music is that they help me keep in touch with decent new bands/artists

Well, my youngest plays drums, and the middle one has just started teaching himself guitar, so the three of them were jamming the other night! Basic, but they were making music! 👌

Looks like he's thoroughly enjoying it too. Lots of "proud Dad" moments to come!

My lad is on a music course at college and loving it. He's a drummer, but is learning to play bass, guitar, and doing a bit of singing too. In a couple of bands, and played a few gigs too.

My daughter plays bass. She took on my first bass when I upgraded. Over the last four years, she's got far better than me. Her alternative rock band have played a ton of gigs this year after winning a battle of the bands competition. She's just started a commercial music degree at Bath uni so now playing lots every day.

My Ell loves basses and guitars.

Plays in a band on and off.

She comes at weekends so her room is where the basses live…

”dad, can I borrow yer Gibson?”

”in the house?”

”no, for rehearsal”

”uhm…Sod off…”

She has a lovely 90’s Yamaha of her own.

I'm hoping my boy will have a passion for music too. Whatever he chooses to be passionate about, I'll support him. But obviously music would be great! He's already got his own little drum kit that he loves, fairly competent using the pedal and sticks... not bad for a 20 month old!

This is my daughters band (she plays bass) playing one of their original songs at a young bands competition they played last year. There's no single winner in this event but a group of promoters pick their favourite band in the finals to play their festival. They ended up getting three gigs out of it.

A lot of potential there. And a great name.

@SteveXFRGreat song and video for Butane Skies. Who did the video? I'd love to record our band, but it's not easy unless you invest in some decent gear. The multiple cameras work well too.

The event was organised by Riverside Studio in Chippenham who also recorded and filmed all the bands who took part. It's really good for a live recording.

We just got back from my daughters bands gig. Their first headline show. They filled the venue, I've never seen so many people in for a local band.

The support acts were good and then her band, Butane Skies, were amazingly good. Loads of confidence on stage and a superb performance.

All band parents were proper proud of them
