Jamiroquai are back!

Hooray! For the first time in 8 years there's going to be a new album and tour for Jamiroquai! Can't wait to see those guys live again. I'll be getting tickets for the Amsterdam show. 4 UK shows have been announced in Glasgow, Manchester, London and Birmingham. All in December 2025.

He's a love him or hat (geddit) him kinda guy and I f*****g love him (and his music). His shows in the 90's were extraordinary, especially those with SZ on bass 👍

Funny how some people still think Jay Kay is Jamiroquai  Jamiroquai is the band's name, Jay Kay is the vocalist. But I get what you mean. I'm a HUGE Paul Turner fan, I've even bought my '66 partly because of his sound. I met him years ago and it turned out we brought both our basses.

Was watching some day time TV during my lunch break the other week, and "Deeper Underground" came on, that bass line...

Well he writes and plays most of the songs/parts….. I’d say Jay Kay is Jamiroquai in the basis it wouldn’t be Jamiroquai without him 👍

Seen them quite a bit and they can be hit and miss but seeing them on TOTP got me into bass.

 

Jay had said on social media he had recently finished recording so hopefully the tour will supplement a new album!

I believe Jamiroquai is Jay Kay and whoever he chooses to hire. Since the now late Mr. Smith left in 2002 anyway.

Saw them with Zender and later with Nick Fyffe, never saw them after that - But Paul Turner is a wonderful bass player.

 

I really liked Nick Fyffe - love the Temperance Movement too - although very different to Jamiroquai.

I can’t remember which synth it is - but it’s definitely not a bass.

 

But you’re right - the BSW does a great version, I’ve had 3 and now have none 🙄

JK plays a lot if the bass parts on synth, part of the reason he and SZ fell out apparently. SZ a genius bass player, JK a close to genius multi instrumentalist and composer

In possession of a BSW and a very good drummer - I did a belting rendition.

 

could never get a good enough guitarist or singer to do it live.

 

Last band could’ve smashed it - current band, would make a really odd choice of cover for an indie band.

Oops I didn't know that and tbh didn't give that a thought! Please accept my sincere apologies. I was just making the observation of how Americanistaion is creeping into our language. Sky TV are the biggest culprits.

I was a huge fan when they first started and saw them in a large venue, then arena after the first and second albums.   I still listen to them occasionally but it was just never the same for me after Stuart Zender left. 

 

I am not knocking Nick Ffyfe or Paul Turner, both amazing players, but it is just not the same for me.  There was just that something extra with SZ.

 

I don't think I could go and see them without him, and especially now Toby has gone too (RIP). it would feel like cheating to me.
