Something don't smell right about this Rick

This 4003 is listed as being a 2004/5 model in the title (and 2017 in the description) having been purchased by the seller as a teenager and then left unplayed for some undisclosed period of time.

The pics don't look like a 20 year old bass — the roller bridge only arrived in the last few years and the skunk strip returned a few years after the new bridge, having being shelved in the mid 80s

I found what I think is the first pic on an older advert from Reverb from a month ago. I looked at the case marker on the right. I was going to say I'm no Rickenbacker expert but will now just say I'm no expert. The pictures look identical to me. Sadly I have no idea how to look at old sold stock on Reverb.

The second pic in the sequence of two is a standard pic.

Wouldn't touch this with a barge pole TBH

But even if it was fully right, why not save yourself a few quid and buy an absolutely brand new one from an actual dealer with a warantee and everything for that price? Its £50 cheaper from guitargutar, or £500 cheaper if you are happy with second hand for mint condition from andy baxter.

Well, yes, I don't know andy baxters shop at all, but he seems well regarded and you have some chance of a followup if something goes wrong. There are a large number of people selling on ebay that don't seem to understand that if the full retail price of something is £3k, selling at 10% off that isn't a bargain, when you aer not providing the options, support and piece of mind that a shop is. Especially when most shops sell 10% below RRP anyway

I've been to Andy Baxter's shop in East London; he was a bit off with me because I went without an appointment and phoned him from the street outside, but it was a genuine bricks'n'mortar place.

Stopped by his gaff in Leeds to pick up a half-tonne of Buzzard (in three-quarters of a tonne of case), not quite a shop as such but a very lovely space. Agree with Prowla, definite need to make an appointment in advance.

Was that the fretless Buzzard?
