I mentioned a flanger to him the other day and he laughed at my pronunciation which I have always used. I don’t like flangers so haven’t ever seen videos or talked about them before so I guess I haven’t heard it said properly. I say Flanjer sort of, whereas he says Flanger rhyming with Hanger. Flanger comes from the way the effect was originally produced, which was by running two simultaneous tapes containing identical audio then physically pressing on the flange (rim) of the tape reel of one machine so that it slowed down, creating a slight delay, which in turn causes sum-and-difference frequency effects.
