It would be this all day long for me.  Easy to replicate without costing a fortune... and looks cool (IMHO).

Are you serious? That jacket looks bloody awful. Oh , you mean the bass... 😁

Do we know why a chunk of the scratchplate is missing?

I was just looking at that. Looks like the controls have been modded as well.

Depending on when the audition is I'll do you one at cost, and it really won't be much, certainly less than a new Squier 👍

very kind of you Chris, I may take you up on it

P Bass with a maple Jazz bass neck.

And a Badass II by the look of it.

Edit: Oh heavens. Triple post!! Must’ve gone through the Edge’s pedalboard!

Slighty sanitised tribute version. Can only assume to remaining pickguard covers the PUP-control wiring cavity, and leads to/joins an EBMM Sabre-style control plate. This version to my eye does the job without the need for gaffa tape that, frankly, would be trying just a little too hard! perhaps there's a little too much relicing by comparison with the photo above, but there are later photos where the finish does appear to be largely gone :)

A fun thing I learnt when doing a relic job - dissolve some wire wool in vinegar and wipe it across the "worn" areas. Makes it look less new pretty instantly.

How to a-salt a bass? 😁

I like the sparkly purple thing

Depends what you're wanting to do mate. If the band are real fans, they might recognise it, but whether it works might depend on what image the rest of them have. I think the relic Precision is a far safer and more versatile bet; frankly pretty much any 3tsb or even natural Precision with a maple neck can be cheaply and quickly modified to look like that bass, and if necessary returned to stock within minutes. Purple sparkly needs you to to source, and probably pay over the odds for, a unique and potentially not easy to sell, instrument. And it looks shite :)

The other option is the Warwick Adam Clayton signature. Its a cheap option as only about £700 and would make a good backup or an alternate bass for certain sets or sets.

I have a mate that will spray something up for me, so if I can source the bits cheaply, it should work

But I'll need a spare of course and it won't be the Sherwood green Jazz, not at that price.

I could get a 2nd hand Lakland, either the 44-60 or Daryl Jones model (Skyline one)

The current Warwick is ugly. I quite like the reverse Warwick, could be worth a chinese punt.

As for image, Guitarist has beany and hundreds of guitars on stage, he's a U2 anorak. I supported them last friday in Southend, the guitarist really nails it.
