zonular Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Welp I dropped my trusty zoom b1on and it looks to be on the way out. Debating a tonex one and wondering how do you practice via headphones? Is it with a pc and interface or a simple setup like the b1on? 1 Quote
fretmeister Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Boss Waza Air headphones. Amazing things. 1 1 Quote
zonular Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 I see a similar thread was posted on Tuesday, my bad! The waza headphones look great! Quote
fretmeister Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I got the guitar version as I play both and the clean amp with a compressor is fine for bass. The bass specific version has a drum machine though. I’m playing way more now as it’s so convenient. Quote
nash Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Line 6 HX stomp. Standalone or plug my laptop in and the stomp works as an interface. 1 1 Quote

Woodinblack Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Boss Katana Go dongle with some headphones off my iPhone. Also go the Wazza airs, they are good too. And the spark 40, which I always used to use but it is tied to my iPad which is upstairs, but still use it a bit as it is to the side of me and the only one of the aforementioned devices that makes sound without headphones! MrDinsdale Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I used to use my Scarlett 2i2, and it also served up computer audio either to my monitors or headphones. Just switched to using my QC on my desk, doing the same job, but it means it's always in reach to tweak. While I'm not doing any band stuff, it doesn't need to be portable! Quote
MrDinsdale Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Takes up a lot of desks, but its pretty! 2 Quote
Mottlefeeder Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Behringer xenyx 304 - EQ on bass/line in, and also on the stereo line in/PC out. This makes it really easy to minimise the bass on the track you are learning, regardless of whether it comes from an external MP3 player or from the PC. David Quote

I think I recently got a UA Volt 2 and it has been great on a Windows Laptop. Or for simple headphone practice, the Nux mighty plug is good. 1 Quote
zonular Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 I might have a look at the volt, I'm sorta scared by the audio interface route being a little less plug and play but I realise the flexibility is there Quote
markbunney Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I have a Boss Katana Go which I love. You can stream your phone too it and play along through the headphones. they got discontinued but plenty on eBay etc Quote

I just use it with my phone, turn the volume up or down for the source, and the volume knob for the bass 1 Quote

ern500evo Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I’ve got the NUX Mighty Plug Pro, it just plugs straight into your bass and then plug your headphones into the unit. Links with an app called Mighty Amp, or there’s another version called Mightier Amp. Links to your phone via Bluetooth for playing along to tracks. Pre loaded drum tracks, and the ability to make your own patches via the app with lots of effects 3 Quote
russ.c Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 (edited) I use a Spark Go. It's got just enough bass amp configuration to get the sound I want, and doubles up as a good headphone amp for my guitar. That and the play along features which I use on guitar makes it worthwhile for me. But if I only played bass then I might not have chosen it. Also the effects are decent enough. You can add a bit of grit to your sound, and EQ, noise gate, etc. Forgot to mention, I've got an old Vox amplug but it hisses like mad. Maybe the newer ones are better, or try a different brand? tauzero Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I've got a Boss Katana Go and a Nux Mighty Plug Amateur. I prefer the Boss once I got it properly connected. I also use the Moises app (unpaid version) to split the bass out from the other instruments, so I can listen specifically to the bass track or play everything else without the bass so I can accompany it. Boodang Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Since installing a Behringer XR18 in my practice / rehearsal room, I use that and the powerplay controller for remote monitor mix into Focal headphones. Flexible solution that covers just practicing through to recording the band. Quote
