Boodang Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I play a 1 string bass, it’s much more versatile than my zero string bass. Quote

Doctor J Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Get a one string tuned to low B with 48 frets. All the notes you need are there, bro. Quote
BigRedX Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 As I said in the other thread, I once took my Atlansia Solitaire 1-string fretless bass along to a rehearsal for my Dad Rock covers band where it was perfectly usable for about half the songs we played and the fact that it was fretless was more of a hinderance than the fact it only had one string. chrisba Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I have seriously considered making a 3 string bass, as I rarely use the G-string on my P bass. Pickups would be an issue, thought about using half of a 5-string p-bass set, but they are expensive and would force me into quite tight string spacing. Quote

Take the G string off I once said to a bishop. 1 Quote
JoeEvans Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Three-string double basses used to be common. You still see the odd old instrument with visible signs of having been converted to four from three. And there are a few ACG two-string basses out there, which must be excellent because they're ACGs. Make a 6-string with three sets of octave strings, using blade type pickups. Quote
