2025 GAS list

cetera

Recommended Posts

As I get older I find the angle that I like to hold my bass gets higher and higher but there's only so much a set of lightweight tuners can so I am seriously thinking about something headless.

A Status is probably out of my budget so maybe a Cort Space 5 or an Ibanez with regularly angled frets ( if such a thing exists )

Rickenbacker 4003S (not fussed on colour)

Spector Euro 4 (again not fussed on colour)

Dingwall Combustion 4 - natural ideally.

Whether I will manage to purchase any of the above next year is another matter but these are what I would like currently.

Having been off gigging for a couple of months with cancer, I've got strong GAS.  In particular for another Bogart 35" 5er which pretty much don't exist unless I order new.  Either that or something else headless/graphitey.

Or I may grab another Dingwall and get back to gigging them.

Or splash out on a decent pedal board.

Nothing in particular, and everything in general

I don't have any specific GAS at the moment, but then again I rarely do: it usually just suddenly overcomes me whenever I come upon a piece of gear that speaks to me. The exception is I'd really like to own a vintage lefty Mustang Bass or Musicmaster Bass some time - but the prices have gone completely mad.

That said, I have a few other items on my list that I still really want to try sometime:

  • Spector Euro LX 5;
  • Something (anything) with fanned frets;
  • I'm really impressed with my Sandberg Lionel and wouldn't mind a longscale California VM or VT;
  • Zon Sonus or Legacy 5.

Not sure I have anything much to speak of.

There are a few basses that I wouldn't say no to, such as a 5 string status headless but they don't come cheap so there is a bit of a gap between cost and want that probably will prevent it.

A better way to trigger synth lines. although TBH - I have all I need, if I just put it together into some giggable form!

Trying to talk myself out of a Sandberg California TM (that darn configurator!!) …… I don’t need another bass?

I’ve got 4 instances next year where my basses will be shipped in vans, whilst the band fly to destinations,

Do I want an Enki case or Gator minivault to lessen the freight items? Will it make life easier? 🤔

A band doing something interesting locally would be nice. Until then, it will be just GAS.

Apart from that:

Dingwall D-Roc (the sparkly blue 4 string)

Gibson Ripper

Guild B302

An 8 string (octave course)

A semi-acoustic with twin single coils, preferably long scale

EBS Magni 502

Laney Digbeth 500 & associated cab (undecided which one)

Line6 HX Stomp XL

Other bass related stuff... :D

Oh man. My GAS list is too long.

Realistically, it might be a few DIY pedals. I should be getting a kit or two for Christmas. And I really should finish my home build.

Unrealistically, first on the list is a D-Roc 5 string. Then in no particular order...

Custom Dingwall of some description

Cort Space Bass

A custom Alpher

An ACG

4003

Squier Rascal

Limelight P Bass

Les Paul Bass of some sort

Spector Dimension 5 HP in Plum Crazy

A 6 string bass?

Quad Cortex

A bass VI could be fun

High quality bitsa?

Custom Zilla 4x12

Many plans floating around my head that may or more likely not happen as they haven’t come to fruition in the years they’ve been there.
A non wood headless 5 or 6 (if pushed) string but rarely see them.
Possibly take the leap into the world of Kemper and see if it can be the thing to replace all the other things that have gradually taken over what little

space I have at home.
Some form of home recording set up but that will also need to be tiny.
This may be the wrong place but I am in serious need of a huge gear sell off so that could happen (🤣🙄)

Nothing really, except maybe a ballsier little practice amp to record with. Ampeg, maybe? And I've been looking for one of these Antonelli organs in the super rare turquoise finish for years, maybe a decade. I always see red or black ones but...

If I ever find one, I'll pay the full €10 they go for. Otherwise, I'm sorted. 👍

Literally nothing on my gas list. I'm back up to about 100 function gigs a year and it's kinda sucked the joy out of playing so I don't really care what gear I'm using. I have a nice amp, a squier 40th anniversary p bass and my in ears. That's all I need. I'll probably sell off some of my more valuable basses in 2025.
