2025 GAS list

cetera

Recommended Posts

Just the usual as per every year for me....

Don't need anything, shouldn't change anything, but will for no reason at all!

There'll be the usual unexpected bills that force a sale, a good month at work where I'll buy another, the random change from lightweight to heavyweight amps and cabs. And back :)

The only think I don't gas for is a 5 string. Anything else is fair game!

Joking aside, the only real thing I'd like is a place to play the sax where no one can hear!

Me too, I keep coming back to it as a bass I want to own….

But I have a new ACG incoming sometime in Q1 which I need to pay for before I even start thinking about anything else! And bonding with that should take priority for 2025 🙂

We could do a temporary swap with mine and I can try something well out of my league🤣🤣

I'm back up to about 100 function gigs a year and it's kinda sucked the joy out of playing...

I'm quite glad bass is a hobby and I'm unlikely to ever play that amount of gigs.  I have a job that pays the bills/mortgage etc, I could only probably do two gigs a month without it getting tiresome.

I have a nice amp, a squier 40th anniversary p bass and my in ears. That's all I need.

Glad to see you are getting on with the Squier.

Sorry for the thread derail

I would love a Sandberg California VM… but it’s not going to happen unless I do something like sell one of my Wals. And THAT’S ABSOLUTELY NOT going to happen. The Sandberg, if it ever does materialise might look suspiciously like this!

It really has turned out to be one of my favourites. I think it's just the simplicity of a precision and the fact that that neck is more J than P.

Kills you in the end doesn't it?

It's the bloody venues. Feels like they just hate all bands and they all lie their thruppney bits off to the client about how their noise restrictions aren't ever a problem. You're constantly having to refer them to the contract the client has signed and you can never just enjoy the playing.

Love December though. Lots of corporate Xmas parties so you get treated far better.

Had to walk by Wunjos today so popped in for a look around. They had a PM configuration California hanging on the wall, so of course I had to try it. That hasn’t helped the situation one little bit! 🙄❤️😍🤘

I shall mostly be continuing to search for a BC Rich Wave pp bass either with a reverse headstock or paddle

BC Rich Eagle bass PP if poss

Very tempted with the Digbeth head, and a vertical cab

another Aria SB700 - perhaps even one of the new ones (preferably with a keener price than £1200!)

poss a V2 Cliff burton sig wah

Nothing bass-related (apart from the conclusion of a long term rebuild project that started in 2023).

However, I am looking for an Eastman mandolin - the MD304E by Eastman impressed me a lot, more so than any other builder.

So, that's what I am looking forward to exploring in the new year.

But before I get a better mandolin, I need to learn some tunes on my current instrument.

Added in the mandolinbrand name of the - Eastman

Couple of specifics and some general areas I need to investigate a bit more.

1. A Dunable. DE or USA I don’t mind which.
2. A passive DI for my board. Need to split clean/dirty and am confusing myself with options.
3. An octave synthy noisy fuzz - probably the Mandrake

4. A second Barefaced cab.

5. Pelicase and racking everything properly since gig bags have been beaten up badly this year.
6. The Neural DSP rabbit hole…

Gas?

2025?

Hmmmm...

Maybe a Fender USA 5 string Jazz? No, I got 4 of those.

Maybe a Fender USA 5 string Precision? No. I got 4 of those too.

Maybe the new Squier 6 string? Wait... Got one.

Maybe a G&L USA L-2500? No got one.

May be a USA G&L M-2500? Got it so, no.

How about a G&L M-2500 tribute? Never mind. Got one.

Maybe a new amp. No got 2 Mesa Subway D-800+ heads and a custom built Epifani UL901. That's out.

Speaker cab? 2 Subway 212 cabs and 2 Subway 410 cabs in house already. So, No!

New pedal? Let's see. 2 Quadcortexs. Pog 2 and Pog 3. Keely compressors. EBS envelope filter, check. Chorusaurus. CABM. Revolt. Le Bass. I could go on so, No!

Wireless system? Shure SLXD. PSM 300 for the IEMs. No set there.

2025 looking gas free here.

Hmmm, a more cynical man than myself might take the above list as an indicator that I‘ll be done with chocolate before you‘re done with G.A.S.

May I assure that I‘ll never be done with chocolate.

I’ve got a bit of gas for a barefaced two 10s just to see how it sounds with my Ampeg amp ,and I think I might try out some 65/66 precisions again in the new year to see if I can get on with the wider nut

I did a gig on Friday in a big old Welsh tabernacle with a 210 with an rm800 on top. Had the chance to hear another band from the stalls they used my rig. It sounded lovely. The sound guy switched off the pa feed.
