Could anyone recommend an electro acoustic guitar for around 3-400 quid please?

Grand auditorium size with cutaway.

Epiphone EJ200CE is worth a look, has a really nice sound

Crafter has several very nice mini-jumbos with good electronics and a cutaway. They're similar in size to a grand auditorium, with a fairly narrow waist.

 

A used Taylor 114CE may also be within your budget, it's in their Mexican-made line and their value for money is quite excellent. I would also like to recommend the Taylor Mini GS, but since you specifically mentioned you want a cutaway they're probably not for you. I have a GS Mini Mahogany with a solid mahogany top and it's absolutely brilliant. The slightly shorter scale (23.5") and slightly scaled-down body are really comfortable, while still giving a very full and big tone.

Wow thanks guys, lot to look at there,I can't buy the Ibanez on here as it's on the south coast and it's pick up only.

Love the epiphone jumbo but need a cutaway and a smaller body, the rest I'll go and have a look at now.

Ah, if smaller body then a Yamaha CPX as @pineweasel recommends would be good.

Tanglewood always used to make a nice range of affordable, good quality acoustics.

 

Likewise, Vintage Guitars.

 

The only recommendation I could make, is that with Acoustic guitars especially, you need to go to a few shops and try out a shed load of instruments to find one that sounds and plays the best to you.

for smaller guitars the Yamaha APX range are pretty good, I've been impressed by some of the smaller Takemine's as well, there are also some great options from Freshman, the few i've played have felt and sounded like much more expensive instruments.

 

one of the best i've played in that price bracket though was an Aria Sandpiper, not sure if they're still available but you might find a used one. my friend has one and it's always a pleasure when i get to play it.

I am currently looking for Yamaha -should be good value for the money.

I tried out a selection a few years ago, although I was aiming at low budget I tried out a few up to £500. I finished up with a Crafter electro-acoustic dreadnought with cutaway which cost £175, it was superior to the more expensive instruments.
