Chienmortbb Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) I have the MOSFET version but am wondering what the difference is between them. Has anyone’s tried or owned both? Edited December 11, 2024 by Chienmortbb Quote
Dan Dare Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I had the mosfet one. When I bought it, I could hear negligible difference between it and the valve one, so I thought I might as well save 50 quid. The M may have been a touch brighter, but that was it. Many of these class D amps that boast valve drive just use a single ECC83 in the input stage. I have a Carvin that does just that. It doesn't add much in my experience. Rounds off the sound a little when you push the gain, but that's about it. You aren't going to get a full-on valve overdrive out of them. 1 Quote

That was my thought and some reviews say you cannot get a real clean tone. Thanks. Quote
Chienmortbb Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 Well the Veyron is now for sale, nothing wrong with it but I now have a NAD pending. Quote

I can't detect any difference between the Valve and solid state settings. Perhaps my ears are shot. Quote
