Having departed the world of bass playing I’ve crossed over to the GuitarChat world

There must be about 3 members who post in there regularly so it’s a lonely place !

Im 100% all guitar playing now and enjoying the return to a 6 stringer

I did pop in, I play mandolin mostly these days, including a guitar-bodied octave mandolin and a Gibson SG clone converted to octave mandolin, but just found tumbleweed  :(

If you're looking for a guitar equivalent of this place, thefretboard.co.uk is a nice spot. Originally started when the old MusicRadar forums closed down, by some long term members from there. Similar vibe to here, pleasant conversation, no 'orrible characters and some very knowledgeable folks on there.

It takes time to build up a reasonable flow of posts and topics. Originally started as a 'feeler', the site is now (sparsely...) populated with Regulars, and the subjects are evolving. The more folk visit, and interact, the better. It's not necessary, still less essential, to own or play guitar, in the same way as BC has an 'open door' policy (I'm a drummer, for example...), and the same 'rules' as BC concerning etiquette and comportement make it a smooth slide over to the same comfortable and secure environment. Not yet up to full speed, but growing at its own pace, there are more and more worthwhile topics and posts. Yes, there are days when there is less 'traffic', but is that a Bad Thing, in today's hustle and bustle..? Chill..! :friends:

I guess that the OP will want a different handle to use on GC - perhaps BassSubtractor60?

No, I think that that his handle still works for a member who used to play bass but now plays guitar.

Bas Sadder 60....

But, in seriousness, I need to visit there more often.

Just had a look at Guitarchat logging in using my Basschat profile.

For some reason I can't post on any of the threads.

Also in my profile I have "1 warning point - No restrictions being applied" but no indication of what it is for.

No wonder hardly anyone is using the site.

In case it still interests you, a reply from GC Admin...

'There are posting settings saying you need 5 posts to be able to post in 'General Discussion'...'

I suspect that it's an anti-Spam measure. No idea about "warning points'; probably a 'start-up' glitch. A 'Report' to Admin would probably get it fixed. Hope this helps. :friends:

I've reported my own post so hopefully it will attract the attention of someone with an answer.

Not being able to post in General Discussion until I have made 5 posts elsewhere is a bit crap. General Discussion is where the interesting topics are. Does this restriction also apply on the current version of Basschat?

Speaking as that admin, it was 5, I have bumped it down a few for no valid reason, so it shouldn't be a problem, and also any warning points are probably related to people having warning points over here, that are reflected over there, but that doesn't really make sense, as there have been no warnings there etc, so i have removed them where  advised of them!

My warning has now gone. Is it possible to find out what it was for? AFAIK I've never had a warning here on Basschat, and the section for the warning on Guitarchat doesn't even exist in my profile on Basschat.

Edit: Still can't post in General Discussion.

Looks like the warning was sent before the system here was upgraded - I don’t think the previous warning ‘reasons’ were transferred over.
