stewblack Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 A clone of the Zvex Mastotron, coming in at less than 50 quid, this is what bass player's fuzz dreams are made of. I've only just discovered Red Rocket Music. Don't know anything about them but I'm guessing they're a small business, UK based, and they make a bunch of copies, clones, tribute pedals - whatever you want to call them. I have two from their collection, and they both sit beautifully in the mix. The Mammoth has no loss of low end and a couple of ways to brighten up the signal if you don't want to descend into sludge. It produced a massive sound at tonight's gig and showed great versatility too, dialled back it just thickened things up, higher and it was monstrous. 4 Quote
eude Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Very nice! I see you have the Tron III clone? How's that? I'm still in search for a right envelope filter, that won't break the bank, and plays nicely with active basses. I REALLY like the sound of the Aguilar Filter Twin, but it's too spendy, and obviously, all the decent proper Mu Tron stuff is hard to find. How does Tron III perform? Quote

thisisswanbon Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 That looks great... and more board friendly than the original! Have you had the original for sound comparisons? Quote

I am not 100 percent to grips with all the controls yet. However I got a great sound from it. I can record clips if you like 1 Quote

Sticker on front otherwise unfinished but where it counts, the sound, it's awesome. 1 Quote

stewblack Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 So I tried and failed to get my audio interface working. But don't give up hope. Anything is possible in an infinite universe. 1 Quote

It's never ever just a case or plugging in and going. Quote

stewblack Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 OK so ignore the playing as i was fiddling with the controls more than worrying about the notes! 1 1 Quote

That's a great demo, and the pedal seems to retain a proper low end throughout, something that a lot of filters fall short on. Is it too late to add it to my Xmas List?... 1 Quote

In response to your post I'll be happy to record some fuzz too. I used the Mammoth again last night and it will be staying on my board. Absolutely perfect fuzz. Does everything I want it to and just makes me happy when I engage it. Quote
