edstraker123
I picked up a lovely used Fender Elite strat over the weekend which was immaculate apart from one blemish which i didn't spot till I'd got home.( don't think it would have been a deal breaker.) Anyway it's a bit of a strange one as it seems to be beneath the clear coat which feels perfectly smooth : Is there anything I could use to disguise it ? It's not a big enough deal to sand it out etc.
BlueMoon
Difficult to say based on the photo just how large it is. Annoying though! I’d be tempted to Dremel the clear coat back to a small border of solid colour and then drop fill and level.
fretmeister
If it's under the clear then I think you'd have to remove a little of that first, then get a close enough colour match with a sharpie or something and then do a superglue repair to fill the hole. Then polish it.
franzbassist Posted Tuesday at 12:44 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:44 It looks to me like it's already been refinished, just without any colour matching? If it's a decent enough repair I'd be inclined to leave it and chalk it up to "mojo".
NancyJohnson Posted Wednesday at 06:00 Share Posted Wednesday at 06:00 The photo looks like the ding is an impact issue if some sort, but the discolouration is a bit odd. Irrespective of how smooth it feels, try and determine whether the clear coat is cracked or chipped...there's a very small risk that any chip that may bep there might fall out eventually. You could have a dig around and fill it with a suitably coloured nail varnish. The beauty of nail varnish is it's self levelling, sets smooth and is shiny immediately. Alternatively, you have a fantastic base for a relicing project. Embrace the ding. Add more.
