Here's a nice, early G&L L1000, paddle head Wunkay.

It's in beautiful condition, a few dings which I've tried to show in the photos.

The neck is smooth with no dings along it and the frets are in great condition.

Sound is superb!  This is Leo's Precision on steroids, very powerful, loads of distinction and then there's OMG switch!

These are top quality instruments, Schaller tuners, beautiful maple neck (no flashy ripples etc, just creamy, solid rock maple!).

As a result, it plays beautifully.

There are plenty of youtube demos etc, of these to hear them.

Very sad to see my Wunkay go, it's a stunning colour, the neck looks so creamy and lovely, 3 bolt adjustable neck joint.

Priced to sell, you might find cheaper, I would contend you may not find better.  (And also, I PC160190.thumb.JPG.28520a8e89b716a57595de8ff367f680.JPGreally like it myself!)

Watched Karate last night at the Fleece in Bristol and Jeff Goddard uses one of these in sunburst, sounded epic though an SVT

Thanks for the love everyone, it has a couple of little nicks, and has def been out the house(!) but treated like a princess!

Did you note the G&L 'birthmark' on the back of the headstock - the tiny dowel insert from the manufacturing process?

I wasn’t aware of the paddle headstock? I’ve only ever seen the current style. Was this an earlier feature that got dropped in favour of the other one?

Yep,  the early ones are paddle shaped.   Might have been a bit too similar to the Fender shape?

You're going to start arguments with that!  I think a lot has to do with expectation, the Fender head shape is so familiar any variation looks a little odd.  (I think you can apply the same to sound too, albeit any variation from the Fender sound will be 'different').

It looks like the Sire headstock, which I like but many despise!

It does, but tbh, I'd have to say it's the Sire head looks like the old G&L!
