2024 hasn't been a good year

1 bandleader currently in IC with sepsis. Gigs cancelled.

Earlier in the year 2 band leaders in hospital for surgery. Lots of gig cancelled.

1 band leader died. Lots of gigs cancelled.

And just now, conflict between a band leader and the guitarist has killed off another band.

 

Not a good year so far!

If I’m reading this I figure you’ve got 5 band leaders. Is that correct?

 

All joking aside, hope it gets better for you. Our singer had a very personal tragedy earlier this month and so all gigs are cancelled in one band.

Sorry to hear this. I don't know how old you are, but I'm finding tales of ill health all too common these days.

 

My band are all gentlemen of a certain age, and I've lost a few good musician friends over the last few years.

 

Keep putting one foot in front of the other....

2024 was by far my most difficult year to date for a long list of personal, professional, and emotional reasons. It makes me even more determined to value and enjoy all life has to offer in 2025 🙏

 Thought I was having a bad year but nothing like OP's.

 

We had to cancel a few gigs thanks to me breaking my foot but we were not out of action for too long.

2024 can do one.  

 

I was unemployed for 3 months, one of my cats got cancer and passed away, the band was out of action for most of the year (firstly our drummer's mum died and he was overseas for 3 months, then our guitarist had a mental health episode and was out of action for another 4 months), and then there was all the Tr**p f**kery in November. 

 

I am so ready for it to be over. Not sure 2025 is looking much better though. The world is truly going to s**t at the moment.

You've gotta laugh! I feel exasperation more than anything else. Oh, and I also had 2 gigs cancelled because both venues decided to redecorate!!

 

I was definitely in 4 bands at the start of this year. I might be in another, but they've never asked me to join. I'm assuming I'm in because I get called for the few gigs the do. So I think I'm ending 2024 in 1 1/2 bands.

 

I'm hoping my, "When one door closes, another opens", theory proves to be true in the New Year!

 

May your 2025 be happy, healthy and prosperous. . . . and there's as much bass playing as you can handle.

3 months out with a trapped nerve in my shoulder (the most painful thing I have ever gone through) followed by three stinking colds in close succession! 2024 was not a good year health wise!

I know my gripes pale into insignificance when measured against some of the events you guys have been through and had to endure.

In terms of bad bad news, this year has been the worst since my Dad died in 2020.
