J-Bass Identification

Hello,

 

can anyone help me with IDing this 70's Jazz bass dupe I found on  eBay?

 

Google image reverse search only found one exact same model which gave me basically no information other than that it was made in the 70's.

 

the last picture is of the actual bass I'm trying to ID.

Looks like a bass that was sold under many many names in the 1970's. Possibly from the Matsumoku factory. Could be sold as a Gumika, Custom, Sakai, Yamato and many, many others. Not particularly brilliant, not particularly valuable.

The 3 good pics are a 70s or 80s budget Korean-made Jazz copy. Hard to be certain with the ashtray concealing the bridge position, but I think it's shortscale. It's not Japanese & absolutely not Matsumoku, the MIK giveaways are the mahogany neck, the blank neckplate with screw indents, the domed-looking string tree & what look like pressed tin tuners. The body will be veneered ply - the massive black oversprays on the contours are to hide the laminations.

 

The pic that you say is from the listing is too dark & indistinct to be identifiable as anything other than a Jazz copy. It's similar but hard to say that it's identical. A link to the actual listing would be helpful.

@Bassassin the thing is that the listing doesn't give any information whatsoever

according to it the bass is from the 90's/00's but I doubt the seller much knowledge

I just figured the good pictures might be the exact same bass because of the pickups, pot knobs, and headstock

Thanks for that, that's much clearer. Yes, pretty much the same thing (the heel may be slightly more square) so no need to update my earlier assessment - 70s/80s Korean cheapo. It won't be a great bass but might be a fun project, so don't pay much, maybe €50-60 or so.
