Hi everyone!

At times I want to run my Little Mark Tube 800 through only one 400W/8-Ohm cabinet. Problem of course being, that The Amp is rated 500W/8-Ohm.

CAN i go ahead and do that (keeping the Volume Knob "in check") or is that a very dumb idea, which will likely lead to Damage in my Markbass MB58R 102 Pure Box 8 Speakers?

You’ll be fine, as you say keeping the volume control in check. Use your ears, you should hear it if it struggles. That said I had an LMT500 into an 8ohm 410 and never needed to push it anywhere near its full power.

Turn it up until you get to where another bump up sounds barely any louder. Turn it back down a nudge. If that isn't loud enough there you need more cab.

 

Putting the cab up on a chair or angling it up to you from the floor can make a big difference to your ability to monitor yourself with less FOH disturbance.

In the real world you'll seldom actually draw more than 100 watts from your amp. Don't worry about it.
