Tell Us About The New Years Eve Gig Your Band Is Playing This Year

Recommended Posts

Maple Road is playing a 4:00-7:00 early New Years Eve gig at The Precinct in Germantown.

It's our 2nd year playing this gig. New Years Eve gigs seem to be good regardless of the circumstances. Last year was great.

Playing one of our regular venues so should be pretty comfortable.  Longer sets, later finish etc but I'm expecting it to be quite the party knowing how the venue is pretty relaxed and wanting dancing and singing.  I always enjoy NYE gigs as you can pretty much guarantee a willing audience.

Not got a NYE gig this year. To be honest New Year isnt a great time for me (some quite unhappy associations with it) so I don’t mind being at home with my family.

Besides, I’ve played on most of the last 20 NYEs since I’ve been gigging regularly so I won’t miss a few.

We’re playing a swanky cocktail bar in Bristol. We play there regularly and they’re lovely people. Hoping for a good fun, relaxed and fun evening that’s not full of massively drunk idiots.

We shall see.

A nice hotel in Scarborough, same venue I did with our duo on Christmas Eve.

NYE we will be supplemented by a keyboard player and some programmed percussion,

to enable us do a wider variety of stuff to cater for all the resident’s likes. Hopefully

we will be finished soon after midnight so not too late home - weather report looking

good. 🤞

Was supposed to be playing nye until our kb player unilaterally cancelled it as he was panicking we were unprepared :( Long story, but after nearly 3 years of stop/start rehearsing it's become clear he'd rather just rehearse and never play live. Shame as the band was really tight and musically very competent. Very frustrating...  needless to say that band is sadly no more  :(

Good luck to those of you playing out, maybe next year for me 🤞

Playing a pub we played in first time a few months ago with new owners. They’d had a couple of dozen bands already and decided we fitted the bill. Good fee plus food and drink for band and partners Going in the Campervan so I can drink, and missus can retire early if she wants. More into classical than rock…

looking forward to it, apart from the fact I usually don’t drink until the last break, or I go off piste. Plus I have to play keys for old

ang syne … 🤣🤣

Depping for a local covers band at the gardener’s arms ( I think) at Ardingly, east Sussex. Had one rehearsal last week that went very well so looking forward to it. Been a long time since I’ve done NYE.😊

I'll be playing a posh ticketed event at the lovely Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Been a regular gig now for about 7 or so years and is a nice earner to pay off Xmas!

Will be playing a pub in Warrington for the forth time. There's been trouble a couple of the times we've played there. Table pushed over, glasses smashed, blood, tears, police etc. The singer is a tough bloke who can look after himself but that still didn't stop some Richard head fancying a pop at him.

So we're expecting a 'fun' night!

We had't chased a NYE gig this year but a pub we have played quite a few times got let down by another band. They put out a Facebook message for a band and we are now playing. Looking forward to it.

We're doing a golf club in Preston.  Two sets, the second one of them going across midnight so had to learn Auld Lang Syne.  With the ongoing arthritis, it maybe my last one unless I can find some way of relieving it.

I went through the same thing about 15 years ago. Great sounding 5 piece Rock band. Great front man too. However, it became clear this guy only wanted to play

" rock star " in his basement and never gig.

We're also playing 3-6(ish), which seems an ideal slot. It's a 'Home' gig in our local so it's all very relaxed, and likely to be a decent crowd. Looking forward to it.

Playing 10.00 - 12.30 with a 30 minute break at a pub in South Somerset. Booked for our usual 5-piece, but KB and LG now down with Covid so it will be just Drums, Bass/BV(me) and and lady Singist/rhythm guitar. It's going to be very hard work and seat of the pants stuff material-wise, but the pub is just happy that we're still going to play, having sold tickets and got food in...

We’re on a double bill in Dundee (an hour’s drive for me) and we have the 7-7:45 & 9:15-10:25 shifts, still fitting around the bingo (why they can’t have just one day off is beyond me) 🤦🏻. They tried it on over the fee, but the BL had all the messages agreeing to the sum and was ready to tell them to stuff it. We won’t play there again, which works for me, as I don’t like the venue particularly. I might even be home for midnight, weather permitting🤞.

We are playing God's Waiting Room. 3 x 40 minute sets. The kind of venue where you can't really tell if the deceased members of the audience passed away during the set or were leftover dead from the previous week.

One person raised an eyebrow during a song once but we couldn't tell if they liked it or were just coming up on the embalming fluid.

Changes in ambient temperature are the things to look out for, and a slightly ‘tangy’ bouquet…

Wildcard are at the Blue Lagoon in Bristol 9.30 though to 1ish.  Possibly our last gig for a while so hope it's a good un!

Playing at the Honky Tonk Collective in Poole with Katy Hurt - so we’ve learned some covers to splash through the set alongside her originals. Some fun basslines in there (Life Is A Highway by Rascal Flats for example).

I believe we’ll be done by 10pm so I might just about make it to the party Mrs Mert will be at by about 00.30am 1/1/25 😆
