Hopefully

we will be finished soon after midnight so not too late home - weather report looking

good. 🤞

Having seen the forecast just now for our region, I’m a bit concerned our journey

up to Scarborough on NYE may end up a bit ‘difficult’ - fingers crossed.

Pete,

I want everybody here gigging tomorrow night to make it back home safely.

We have a lot of fog in the forecast tomorrow and I'm driving on back country roads.

Thanks Daryl, hope you make your gig and back safely.

For me here it’s looking like high winds and torrential rain with the potential for snow too.

My route is also back country roads with some steep hills, so snow / ice is the worst scenario.

Only around 50 miles each way but will be setting off in good time.

After being stuffed out of our gig by the venue booking someone else, wasn't expecting to have a gig. However, someone got a cancellation and one of the other venues said that we had been let down so we were available, so they contacted us. They wouldn't pay much but by posting another venue that we play quite a lot (and practice at) realised we weren't playing and decided to open up for NYE, so we have a gig after all!

Looking forward to that

Hope the journey back is good, it looks a bit rubbish out there, especially up north. I have never actually done a gig 50 miles away!

My GPS says it's only an 18 minute drive. However,  with fog anytime on the road is bad.

Playing at Scholes Cricket Club tonight. Getting there at 6.30pm for setup and soundcheck, but no idea what time we're starting (apparently the club will tell us later) so equally no idea if I'll be home for midnight, or if I'll die of boredom before we start

Bit of a sore point there Daryl. One of the main reasons I got back into playing was so that I didn't have to sit at home watching Jools Holland on NYE phoning it in with his chums in the middle of November.

Nothing this year or for a couple of years, not even a sniff of a dep job. On the bright side I have at least figured out how to watch the NYE show on the Irish channel TG4, so at least there will be some decent music.

1st set done and apart from one guy who is, I assume, taking the night off from welcoming cars to the village, it's like a room full of people in shock after some kind of natural disaster.

2nd set done. The interesting guy has picked up a tambourine to help us out.

The sisters of the night have risen and danced to a couple of tunes.

Excited to see how things develop.

Pete,

It's nice to have Bass Chat to discuss these common issues. Everybody is different.  For me, at 71, doing these gigs are starting to be very difficult physically.  I'm having thoughts about how long can I go on doing this.

Maple Road is playing a 4:00-7:00 early New Years Eve gig at The Precinct in Germantown.

It's our 2nd year playing this gig. New Years Eve gigs seem to be good regardless of the circumstances. Last year was great.

Great early  New Years Eve gig. Great crowd and great food. We had a few tempo and ending issues. Overall a good night.
