It might look like it’s a Jack Casady but look what’s cropped up on eBay

You don’t see many which probably explains the price. The original Les Paul Signature bass which was the model for the Jack Casady bass.

On my bucket list of basses I still have any GAS for but will probably never now be able to afford (actually now just down to this, an original Ric 4005, and a pre-EB 'Ray in sunburst / maple).

These used to crop up now and again around the £1K mark.   If only.........    Looks like a nice example.

According to Flyguitars site, only 627 of these were ever made so yeah, it can be considered a fairly uncommon offering...

 

I've seen maybe three of them in the flesh over the past 45 years and I've seen/played/own(ed) a metric ton of Gibson gear...

I’ve only ever seen one. It was in a shop in Denmark St and I knew someone who wanted one, so I told him about it and he went and bought it. I’m not in touch anymore so I wonder if he kept it. 🥴

One of those turned up for sale in Dunedin about 3 months ago.

Was pretty tidy too. Someone got a bargain at $3.5K NZD!

Those tuners look a little wonky. Did 'he' work for Gibson in 1974?
