Hi, just joined, asked a question about my 1983 Vigier Nautilus Arpege bass guitar ..... the very one featured in Tony  Bacons Ultimate guitar book ( page 179) and this site popped up, so here we are !   Been playing bass and cello since 1963 as a kiddo, i am from North Devon in UK, but currently live in Portugal for last 18 years , and although 76, still play in various bands , usually 2/3 times a week !  There yah go so far!  I have a collection ( like most ) of about 25 Basses , including the 2nd bass i ever got , a 1964  Fender Jazz, include 4/5/8 string jobbies, of all era`s......          My initial enquiry is i have forgotten the name of the material used on my 1983 Vigier  Nautilus bass ?  Could it be Fenolic ( Phenolic).... answers welcome!

Phenolic fingerboards were used by Vigier on some instruments, not sure about yours.

Welcome! We’re going to need some pictures! I’m assuming the bass is fretted (I think I’ve seen it in the book) in which case it is indeed phelonic. You can clean it with WD40!

Welcome , as another seventy something with a pile of stuff that’s accumulated over the years I’d like to trim things down to maybe a dozen this year. And sell several amps.

Another warm welcome Syd, you're doing better than me - 74 on the 31st Jan - hardly play at all these days, still got a dozen or so - all 4 string, but try to keep in touch and enjoy making the wiring looms for the BC massive 👍😅
