Marky L Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 If you have 47:50 mins spare over lunchtime then this is a strangely relaxing video to watch - YouTube luthier Tanya Shpachuk goes through the process of replacing a truss rod and frets on a Tbird in close up detail. I found it equally fascinating and also somewhat twitchy, as someone who is an absolute klutz with tools would have had that thing reduced to firewood in 5 minutes. I really do admire people with skills to do this sort of thing and the patience required too. Getting that fretboard off... ooohh!!!!! (Ignore the odd bogey nail art.. it doesn't last long.) 5 Quote

Norris Posted Thursday at 10:49 Posted Thursday at 10:49 Heating the old frets will soften any glue that may have been used, and also releases natural oils from the fretboard wood, helping to avoid tearout 2 Quote

chriswareham Posted Thursday at 16:49 Posted Thursday at 16:49 She's a great luthier. It's quite poignant at times when she has to stop filming because the power has failed due to Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure (she's based in Kyiv). Ted Woodford, who is the gold standard for YouTube luthier videos, has spoken approvingly of her skills. 1 Quote
