2pods Posted January 6 Posted January 6 As I supposed, I fell at the first hurdle buying an SA Atlas from @Berserker Closely followed by the SA Hub from @Quatschmacher So, I'll sit back and enjoy the fun. 2 Quote

Maude Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Count me in. There's nothing I want or need so I can't see any reason I could possibly fail. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. . . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 1 Quote
neepheid Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Geezo - 10 days in and already I'm playing chicken with Facebook Marketplace - what's wrong with me? I've been trying to channel it though - I've started a 2026 want list instead. Because if you think I'm doing back to back years of abstinence, you're sorely mistaken! 1 Quote
ezbass Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Last year has affected me badly it seems. I’ve been looking at stuff, but keep rationalising the GAS away. It’s not natural I tell you! 1 Quote

In other news the UK apparently might have a GAS shortage, so if we don't buy anything we could perhaps use our pent-up gas to help keep the country warm? 3 Quote

I wouldn’t ask for much in return, just a few thousand vouchers for Andy Baxter’s store 😂 2 Quote
bass_dinger Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Using the principles of this thread, I managed to not buy a set of Mission 702e floor standing speakers - 40 quid in the Orpington Cash Converters. Great price, good condition, matched my furniture, would have fitted the space. But I simply didn't need them. 1 1 Quote

Well that was silly, because I'm pretty sure consumer electronics is outwith the scope of this challenge... 1 Quote

That nicely coincides with a question I have. I’ve been contemplating getting some desktop speakers for my Mac because the speakers built into the monitor are pants. Would that be allowed or not? As I said, consumer electronics fall outwith the scope as far as I'm concerned. Even though I made sure I got the purchases in before the end of last year (because I was in that mindset), I don't think my purchasing of a set of headphones, or a bluetooth transmitter/receiver would constitute an infraction. I probably wouldn't even have brought it up, and I would have slept soundly going forward. 1 1 1 Quote
Richard R Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 I agree. If you were buying studio monitors for your recording setup, that would be tier 2, but laptop speakers don't count. Quote

So, notwithstanding the comment that consumer electronics are outwith the scope, I’ve pulled the trigger on a pair of Adam Audio D3V speakers which are smallest, baby speakers in their range. I suspect that these may cross the line into studio monitor territory, or at least sit across the line between consumer/studio speakers. I therefore prostrate myself before the court to adjudicate on whether this constitutes a tier 2 fail (I think I know the answer 😉). Quote
