Pestie Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Morning everyone. I have a Paranormal with a black scratch plate. The scratch plate is far too shiny. What can l do to take the edge off it without spoiling it? Is it just a case of really soft wire wool or are there any other things l can do. Cheers. Mike Quote
uk_lefty Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I would keep the original scratch plate in original condition and buy a custom plate however you want it from gig ink or another reputable outlet. Gig ink is the only one I've used and I've been very pleased with the results, others on here will recommend some different places I'm sure. The reason I would do that is to be able to revert the bass to its original condition quickly and easily if in future you wish to sell it or take it on antiques roadshow. 2 Quote
Dan Dare Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Good advice from uk_lefty. Replacement scratch plates are not expensive. I've had a couple made by Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester. They're very good. You send them the original and they copy it exactly and return it with the new one. Wide choice of materials/finishes and colours. Have a look on their website. 1 Quote
neepheid Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I'll be the first to mention Brian Pillans (earlplianz on eBay) then Quote
